A custodian of industry intelligence, and a champion of innovation, Alok Kala has played a defining role in creating platforms that celebrate design excellence, and foster industry growth, most notably through the IJ Jewellers Choice Design Awards — today regarded among India’s most prestigious jewellery honours.
His contributions extend beyond publishing into building critical industry resources, including landmark directories and handbooks that are widely considered essential references for the trade. He has expanded his publishing footprint with several industry reference standards, including the Diamond Handbook of India, Diamond Handbook of Surat, Coloured Gemstones Handbook of India, and IJ Jewellery Sourcing Directory. A passionate advocate for design innovation, Alok established the IJ Jewellers Choice Design Awards in 2010, now regarded as one of India's most prestigious design recognition platforms.
Committed to the international growth of India’s gem and jewellery sector, he is a regular delegate at key global events, including the World Federation of Diamond Bourses Congress, and International Coloured Gemstone Congress, and major exhibitions across Israel, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Bangkok, the USA, Europe, and beyond.
Having a philanthropic bent of mind, Alok Kala contributes meaningfully to the community, serving as Patron of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.
